T Shirt War Video – Behind The Scenes

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

As I was, *ahem* “researching” this afternoon and I came across the “Behind the scenes” video that goes with the T Shirt War video that we posted the other day.

I really like how they had a laptop setup so that they could see themselves in the last shot…VERY clever!

Happy days!

Screen PrintingOriginal Photo – Phillie Casablanca

Designing graphics and images for a t-shirt is an easy task once you’ve done your homework. Remember that graphic design t-shirt companies are a dime a dozen, so it’s imperative you stand out when presenting your pieces to investors or consumers. Perhaps the most important item when it comes to the design aspect of designing t-shirts is to stay true to your brand’s aesthetic. (more…)

Converting Text to Outline in Adobe Illustrator

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

A problem that a lot of printing companies have is people sending over artwork in a vectorised format that contains text that hasnt been converted to outline (People certainly send us over a lot of Illstrator files for t shirt printing without outlined text!). The reason for this is that the printing company may not have the same beautiful fonts that you have used in creating your artwork, and if it goes unnoticed,  it can leave your print in, well, a bit of a mess!

When converting your text to outline it takes your text from being regular text and relying on a font, to vectorised shapes which can then be viewed on any computer even if it doesnt have the original font installed.

Anyway, however confusing that may all sound, converting text to outline in Illustrator is very straightforward.

First you need to select your text

Selected Text

Then Type>Create Outlines

Outlined Text

Now your text is outlined and ready to send to the printers! One thing that I would like to add here is that your outlined text will now not be editable as regular text would be, so, if you would like to make adjustments to your design in the future it would definately be better to save your outlined design as a seperate file!

Happy Outlining!

The “Martin has gone fishing” T Shirt Competition

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Martin, our boss, has been feeling the stress of the office lately as we’ve all been under pressure. But, since he’s the boss, he decides that he is going to take a fishing trip to relieve his stresses while we slave away printing beautiful t shirts.

The rest of us don’t really think that’s fair, and have decided to have a little fun in his absence.

Martin has always admitted that he can be a bit stingy at times. But if he wants to go fishing on the company’s time, we’re going to give away some free gear in our spare time!

We are offering one of you the opportunity to win a white “Earth Positive” 100% organic, ethically produced, t shirt with your very own full colour design printed across the front!

All you have to do is quite simple:

1) Follow @logos4polos on Twitter
2) Tweet the following message “The guys @logos4polos are giving away a free printed t shirt whilst Martin is away fishing! Check out how to enter at http://bit.ly/fstma

3) Send your artwork (in a high quality jpeg or vectorised format) & twitter username to competition@logos4polos.com

Whichever design makes us smile the most will win!

Entries must be received before Martin gets back (Monday evening 19th October). Winner will be announced on Tuesday 20th October!

Good luck, get doodling!
