Screen printing is one of the most popular ways of printing tshirts and we love it!
The first step with screen printing is to separate the colours of your design, as each colour or "layer" will be printed separately. The process then involves using a screen (for those of you who haven't seen one, imagine your Nan's nylons stretched over an oversized picture frame!), which has a layer of your image transferred onto it. Each colour of your design will need its own screen.
Once all of the screens are ready the real fun begins. Layer by layer the screens are placed on top of the shirt and ink is forced through the holes in the fabric (again, think Nan's nylons) in the area of your design.
Once all the layers are printed, you have yourself an awesome tshirt. Lets all have a pat on the back and make Nan a nice cup of tea!
We would recommend that screen printing is perfect for medium to large print runs as there is more involved in the screen setup compared to other methods. With screen printing you will get a beautiful print that feels great, looks great and will last.

How do I send my artwork?
For screenprinting we require artwork to be sent in a vectorised format. This ensures that we are easily able to seperate the colours to make screens for your design, as well as ensuring that all the lines in your design are sharp and will look crisp when printed.
We also require all text to be converted to outline. As much as we would like to own every font in the world, we are told, unfortunately, that it is not possible!
What is a vector image?
In short, rather than an image being made up from lots of tiny coloured pixels, a vector image is based upon mathematical equations to work out the lines, curves and shapes. This means that vector images can be resized and not distort or pixelate.
